Grant lake is surreal

Right across the street from Joseph D. Grant County Park is located very beautiful Grant Lake. It is great location for numerous hiking trails. Maps are available at the stand.

It took us about 1 hour to go around the Grant Lake. Be careful if you have dogs, water in the lake is not safe for drinking due to the seasonal red algae.

This place has wild bores, occasional snakes and mountain lions. Beautiful cranes and Canadian geese are common visitors. Few benches are available for hikers, to enjoy surreal atmosphere.

Grant Lake is just 30 minutes away from San Jose and you can't hear Silicon Valley's heavy traffic here. Stanford has few scientific bases nearby. Not that far away is Lick Observatory, Mount Hamilton.

Joseph D. Grant County Park have plenty of camping sites. We love to come here to have relaxing time with our family. If you are a bird watching enthusiast, you will find lots of migrating birds to observe and take closer pictures for your photos.

Enjoy your stay, please be responsible, and take all your trash to the large bins at the entrance of the parking lot. Every year park volunteers collect lots of trash that is being left by the lake. Few years ago, this park protected Evergreen, San Jose from wildfires. Lots of fire fighters were on the front-line digging trenches, cutting fallen trees, burning dried bushes and grass. Let's keep this beautiful place as clean as possible.
